Blackpool

Anyone unfamiliar with Blackpool should really make an effort to get to know it. It is a town with a unique character and atmosphere, and apart from the famous Tower with its beautiful ballroom it has, along with the Winter Gardens and Grand Theatre, some of the country's finest built heritage.

And needless to say it still has those endless sands, the three piers, the trams, the holiday entertainments and the autumn illuminations that have been drawing people for a century and a half.

As you'll gather, I love it still, despite having left the town forty-five years ago. To me it hasn't changed.

My fictional town is not so glossy. In truth, the modern Blackpool has more than its fair share of problems. It's into this world - which, hopefully, most visitors to the real town have not come across - my private eyes work their passage through life - and death.
